“Teaching EFL: A Practical Intensive Course-Guide to Successful Teaching”

Aim of the Course

The course is aimed at professional development and training in ELT.

The participants will be able to:

• manage their teaching time effectively and reduce teacher’s stress and overload;
• make the lessons more student-centered ;
• plan lessons more effectively in accordance with the UK teaching practice and standards;
• review basic methodologies and theories to language teaching;
• raise professionalism and learn more student-centered activities for teaching vocabulary, grammar, speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

The course will benefit experienced and practising teachers of different foreign languages.

During the course the focus will also be given to teaching “real”Business English and cross-cultural communication today.

Course Outline Basic concepts within the teaching and learning contexts. Overview of the most popular methodologies/approaches to teaching EFL (constructivist, experiential learning, reflective teaching, student-centered communicative approach, content and language integrated learning etc). Needs analysis and classroom management. Effective Lesson Planning: “Reducing teacher talking time; increasing student-centrism. Aims, objectives. Interaction patterns. Paperwork. Teaching vocabulary. Language analysis. Student-centered techniques to convey meaning, form and pronunciation. Lesson frameworks for a vocabulary lesson. Teaching grammar. Language analysis. Student-centered techniques to convey meaning, form and pronunciation. Concept checking questions. Lesson framework for a grammar lesson. Teaching speaking and writing. Minimizing teacher talking time and optimizing the students’ speaking and writing practice. Useful activities for teaching speaking and writing. Teaching reading and listening. Interactive lesson demonstration. EFL/ESOL teaching materials popular in Cambridge and London. Materials and resources for teachers and teacher’s development.

Registration fees

Early registration till 11 p.m. July 4, 2014 $80, ($72 –TESOL-UKRAINE 2014 member)

Late registration till 11 p.m. July 11, 2014 $100 ($90 –TESOL-UKRAINE 2014 member)

Onsite registration $120 ($110 –TESOL-UKRAINE 2014 member)

Registration fee includes course pack, coffee-break, international certificate of participation, and resources for teachers and teacher’s development.
